Refunds

Fourteen days, no questions asked. Ask within fourteen days of buying a book and we refund it in full. We will not ask you why, and we do not take the book away.

The policy, in full

If you buy a book and want your money back, write to us within fourteen days of the purchase, from the address on your account, and say so. We refund the whole amount to the card you paid with. We do not ask for a reason, we do not ask you to prove anything, and there is no form.

The fourteen days run from the moment your payment cleared, which is the date and time on the receipt we email you. That is the same moment the book was put in your library, so there is one date and not two.

You keep the book

This is the part that surprises people, so it is written down: a refund does not revoke your access. The PDF you downloaded is still yours, the book stays in your library, and your strikes and notes stay where they are.

That is a deliberate decision and not an oversight. A half-solved book is hours of somebody's evening, and clawing it back over a refund would be a petty way to end the transaction. It also means we never have to decide what a partly struck book is worth, which is a question with no good answer.

How long it takes

We process refunds by hand, usually within two business days. The money goes back through Stripe to the same card you paid with; we cannot send it anywhere else, and we do not need any card details from you to do it. Once we have sent it, your bank decides how quickly it appears. That is typically five to ten business days, and it is out of our hands.

After fourteen days

Write to us anyway. The fourteen-day window is what we promise, not the limit of what we will do. If a book turned out to be broken, or something went wrong that was our fault, the date is not the point and we will sort it out.

If a book is faulty

Every book is built so that exactly one register entry survives every memorandum, and so that the printed checksum matches that entry. If you can show us a book where that is not true, that is our mistake: we will replace it or refund it, whenever you find it, and we will want to know about it.

If your book did not arrive

Every buyer gets a book of their own, out of a stock we keep ahead of demand. If that stock ran out in the moment between your payment clearing and your book being assigned, we email you to say so, and a person makes one and puts it in your library, usually the same day.

You do not have to wait for that. Say the word and we refund you immediately and in full, and none of the fourteen days above is spent on our mistake.

Chargebacks

Please just email us first. A refund asked for directly is faster for you than a chargeback, and it costs us less; we have never refused one.
